Our Lady of Sorrows
Blessed Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. I often contemplate what she must have went through. One minute everyone loved her son and praised him and the next they were throwing stones at her son. I have wanted to bring more Catholic Jewelry pieces that bring more awareness to our Blessed Mother.
We love our children, nurture them, hug them when they fall, etc. I can't even imagine how much suffering she endured seeing her son rejected and hurt. I can only imagine the deep pain she must have felt. Today we remember this suffering. We call upon Our Lady of Sorrows when we are faced with pain and sorrow.
In Luke 2:34-35 we ready when Simeon tells Mary that a sword will pierce her own soul. I often wonder how she handled her suffering. As time passes I find myself going to her more and more. I know she understands my pain and suffering on a level I don't even comprehend. We sometimes question the hurt and suffering in our lives but these are our cross to carry. She is also our Mother and understands us worry. MATER DOLOROSA, ORA PRO NOBIS.
I leave you with two prayers.
Beloved Mother, so stricken with grief, help us to bear our own suffering with courage and love so that we may relieve your Sorrowful Heart and that of Jesus. In doing so, may we give glory to God Who gave you and Jesus to humanity. As you suffered, teach us to suffer silently and patiently. -Amen. (Hallow App)
O most holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ: by the overwhelming grief you experienced when you witnessed the martyrdom, the crucifixion, and death of your divine Son, look upon me with eyes of compassion, and awaken in my heart a tender commiseration for those sufferings, as well as a sincere detestation of my sins, in order that being disengaged from all undue affection for the passing joys of this earth, I may sigh after the eternal Jerusalem, and that henceforward all my thoughts and all my actions may be directed towards this one most desirable object. Honor, glory, and love to our divine Lord Jesus, and to the holy and immaculate Mother of God. -Amen. ( via Salt+Light Media)
